The Reading Task Force of the school has strived to broaden students’ reading experience since its establishment. This year, in collaboration with HKEdCity, the task force has launched an ‘e-read scheme’ in which students are provided with electronic books. Being the pilot school of the project, our school has been granted unlimited download of e-books in the HKEdCity website throughout the trial period. All form 1 classes have taken part in the project and used iPads during Reading Lessons to enrich their reading experience. In open competition, 2B Yip Hon Wah Warren and 2C Wong Kai Lok were awarded the Outstanding Prizes in the 4.23 World Book Day Creative Writing Competition 2016. It is the fifth consecutive years that our school is awarded the prize. Their entries stood out against 1400 entries from 200 schools. Adjudicators selected 8 winning entries in the junior secondary section, two of which are from our school. The winning works from the competition will be on display during a roving exhibition which will be held at different public libraries. They will also be showcased at the forthcoming Hong Kong Book Fair, and HKPL website for public appreciation. Our school has also won prizes in the various competitions in Reading Carnival organized by Hong Kong Professional Teachers’ Union. Representatives from our school, 6E Lam Ka Yu and 6C Tse Chun Lai, were awarded the Merit Prize and the third place respectively. In the Bookmark Design Competition, 3C Chow Man Chun was awarded the Merit Prize. Reading is a rewarding experience involving multiple intelligence. It is hoped that the everyone will be inspired through reading.
