Student Leadership Training Programme
“Making Miracles: Limited Resources, Unlimited Warmth”
15 May 2020 – 17 Jul 2020
“No matter how big or small, every contribution counts tremendously.”
Co-organizer: Saint Lawrence's Church, Caritas Hong Kong Community Development Service and YMCA Cheung Sha Wan Centre
The COVID-19 pandemic was not easy for everyone in the world, but students at our school wanted to send warmth to people in need by being a leader during the difficult times. “Making Miracles: Limited Resources, Unlimited Warmth” is a Leadership Training Programme co-organized by our school and three other local institutions, including Saint Lawrence's Church, Caritas Hong Kong Community Development Service and YMCA Cheung Sha Wan Centre. The programme was funded by the COVID-19 Emergency Fund of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Over 170 student volunteers and teachers have made every effort to bring love and warmth to over 1500 families in need.
Although restriction of social practice has widely generated limitations on day-to-day life, CSWCSS stayed close and shared love to our community. Throughout the journey of applying for funding, finding student leaders, recruiting more than a hundred student volunteers, promoting the project, reaching the needy, purchasing food and epidemic-prevention equipment, arranging all the logistics of gift pack production and sending the gift packs to more than 1500 families, the elite student leaders and their teacher advisors excelled themselves to achieve their goal of ‘to give and to lead’, which is the school theme in 2019-2020. They all grew through task achievement.
“It is not the end, it is not even the beginning of the end. But perhaps, it is the end of the beginning. “ – Winston Churchill
The programme “Making Miracles: Limited Resources, Unlimited Warmth” is not the end. We believe that our students will continue to follow the example of Jesus Christ, serve by leading and care for the needs of all others around them.
